DISCOVERY 2026-06-12: Found via The Plant Studios releases archive (plantstudios.com/archives/releases.shtml) and confirmed by Arne Frager interview (Richie Unterberger/KQED, 2017). Frager stated he gave the Monophonics (San Francisco funky horn band) studio time at The Plant for their first record at no charge. The Plant Studios site posted 'Have a Monophonics Christmas!' (Dec 14, 2007) announcing 'Playin' & Simple' as available for sale. Recorded at The Plant Studios, 2200 Bridgeway, Sausalito, under Arne Frager ownership. DATE PRECISION: YEAR ONLY — released Dec 2007, so likely recorded mid-2007. Strong Plant provenance; Frager explicitly confirms The Plant as recording location. CENSUS 2026-06-13: Confirmed recorded at The Plant Studios, 2200 Bridgeway, Sausalito, CA, April 11–14, 2006 (per Discogs credits). Mixed at Ex'pression College, Emeryville, CA; mastered at Coast Recorders, San Francisco, CA. Arne Frager confirmed in KQED interview that The Plant provided studio time at no charge for this debut.
