Listen
The Smithereens’ June 24, 1994 KFOG appearance placed the band at The Plant while it was in San Francisco for a Fillmore concert celebrating its fifth album, A Date with The Smithereens. KFOG host Bill Evans led the live acoustic studio session. The recording survives at Internet Archive, whose item description confirms the date, the 2200 Bridgeway studio, and the KFOG 104.5 FM broadcast. It belongs to the KFOG in-studio run from the period, alongside other Bay Area radio sessions at the Plant. The archive recording holds a compact document of the band’s acoustic side at the time of that fifth-album tour.
