Mike Bloomfield & Mark Naftalin
April 22, 1973 · Record Plant Sausalito
On the same night as the Kristofferson broadcast, April 22, 1973, KSAN aired an acoustic reunion set from Mike Bloomfield and Mark Naftalin, two alumni of the Paul Butterfield Blues Band. Bloomfield had largely retreated from the road by this point, living quietly in Mill Valley and playing sporadically, and this session is one of the more intimate documents of that period. Naftalin, the Butterfield band's keyboardist, had also settled in the Bay Area and continued performing locally. The stripped-down, acoustic format sets this broadcast apart from Bloomfield's more amplified work with Electric Flag and Super Session.
