KSAN caught Fleetwood Mac with Bob Welch on December 15, 1974, in a set the official reissue describes as possibly his last performance with the band before his departure. A little more than a year later, the Buckingham-Nicks lineup would return to the same building to begin work on Rumours, one of the best-selling albums of all time. This broadcast documents the band in a transitional lineup era often overshadowed by what came immediately after, offering a rare look at the version of Fleetwood Mac that existed just before its most famous chapter began.

CHRONOLOGY FLAG 2026-08-07 (unresolved): Ultimate Classic Rock places the Heroes Are Hard to Find tour's final show at Long Beach Municipal Auditorium on Dec 2, 1974, with Welch leaving after the tour concluded there. But this KSAN broadcast is Dec 15, 1974 — AFTER Long Beach. So either the tour did not truly end at Long Beach, or the Dec 15 Record Plant date was a standalone KSAN radio session after the tour proper. Do not assert 'last show of the tour' framing for Dec 15 without resolving this. Separately: sources disagree on whether Welch wrote/sang 7 or 8 of the 11 songs on Heroes Are Hard to Find — use 'most of' in prose until settled.
