When the Loma Prieta earthquake struck in October 1989, engineer Jim Gaines was at The Plant with Santana, cutting organ overdubs with Chester Thompson. The sessions were for Spirits Dancing in the Flesh, which was recorded and mixed at 2200 Bridgeway, with more mixing at Sound Castle in Los Angeles. Columbia released it in 1990.
